Coffee and jogging

Coffee and jogging

I was crazy, too. I went on a jog and met up with her to make sure she made it home ok. But did I do the smart thing she did? Drink water? No way (do you know what fish do in the stuff?)! I had my morning coffee instead.
Hey- I'm trying to get healthy for our boy and his mama, but I can't give up everything!

Still crazy after all these months

for bed! Well, you might think that she is getting ready to go to sleep. But the little guy will have none of that! And he is not even out yet. With all the kicking, stretching, moving, nerve pinching that is happening in utero, we anxiously wonder what the little one will be like when he finally decides to leave the womb.

Here we are at 37 weeks. With a doctor's visit that told us we are progressing- the baby has presented himself, engaging the pelvic bone, mama's cervix has begun to efface and dilate, and the anxiety has generally increased. But more importantly, our excitement has multiplied.
However, this baby seems to have a mind of his own (which is a good thing) and just takes his own time to do what he will eventually do. At least mama has something to do with the table - uhh, belly - until he comes!

Mama on the way to Lamaze

Look how happy she is! Even anticipating the information we will learn at Lamaze makes her smile. What an incredible mom already. The poor thing has to take a train to her lamaze class and even then can't contain her excitement.
We learned so much there, but there were times when all the women seemed to have white knuckles and dropped jaws - though their appearances improved when the nurse informed us about pain relief options (and the post-delivery drinks!)

Here we go!

Only eight official weeks to go! Reality keeps setting in, from the size of mama's belly, the actions of the baby, mama's work coming to an end for a while, dad fixing up the baby's room, the crib and bedding being ordered, the cradle arriving and rocking in the living room, to the excitement that we have and the interest even strangers take in our new addition. The baby is about 4 pounds already, and almost 12 inches long. Hopefully, he will grow an a usual pace that doesn't reflect the size of the belly, and mama will have an easy labor and a healthy and happy baby boy.

That's right! Week 28 has come and we are definitely into the third trimester. Mom is doing well, even if she isn't getting enough sleep because the little buckeroo likes to practice gymnastics in the middle night. Papa has finally started to wind down with his semester- only a few more things to finish up, so he has had time to update as you can see.
That photo is totally untouched- we are asked constantly if it's twins, or "how many minutes left?" and people are surprised to hear we have almost three months to go! But she just grows more beautiful each day and i have more to love.

This week has been incredibly active for all three of us. Baby is moving and dancing and responding to our voices and playing patty-cakes through the mama's belly. Mom is busy at work with numerous events and finds herself tuckered out every night- but not too much that she can't sing to baby. Dad just had a crazy couple of weeks preparing for a competition presentation for one of his architecture projects- and they made the finals!! Only two weeks to go to see if they win.

stuff

people have been asking if we have registered somewhere for the baby. We really haven't because we are strange and have particular tastes. It seems no one website has more than a few things we like. So, we createad a spot where we put things we like http://turbababy.blogspot.com
Registries have always been a strange concept to us. We don't want you to think we are asking for this stuff. But if you want to see what kind of stuff we like, please take a look. Feel no obligation... only love.

In case you haven't figured it out....

This was our April Fools Joke, but seriously, we did have a scare last week, but everything seems to be ok with with mom and baby. And we got to spend a lot of quality time listening and watching young turba.

Don't worry - when the baby is born, you'll find out before we blog it.

Originally uploaded by turba.
Ok, ok... it took us a while to get our week 16 photo up--- we have been busy lining up a new home for us and baby turba!
Anyways, we tried to 'divine' the gender of baby turba. We used the same technique my mom did with me- tie the wedding ring to a string and hold it over the belly. If it goes back and forth, its a boy. If it goes in circles, its a girl.
When we tried, it just spun around. Then it went back and forth, then around in circles, then back and forth again. If we aren't having triplets (which we aren't!) I don't know anymore now than I knew before (at least about the baby's gender :-))

04 February 2005

Week 16

We should have some more mama photos to post soon, but we have been busy celebrating another birth- well an anniversary of the papa's birth. We also listened to some more music this week, most notably was Brahm's Seven Fantasias.
Mama is very excited about the quickening that should be happening soon. She swears (and I don't doubt it) that she felt it kick last night! This little creature develops so fast and we are just so excited to meet it, but we are taking every opportunity to enjoy each day.
On that note, any music suggestions are welcome and appreciated!

week 15

well today is week 15... last night we began playing music for young turba. The first song I had to play was mama's favorite: John Coltrane's My Favorite Things. I couldn't think of a better way to introuce yt to music! Then we changed gears a bit, Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusic and Bach's first Cello Sonata. It was a wonderful way to end an evening, the three of us curled up in bed, listening....
